A paper analyzing the youth unemployment in EU, enriched by qualitative insights on Southeast European countries studied within the Erasmus+ YouthCap project (CRA, 2020) is presented. The youth unemployment pro or countercyclical changes are statistically considered. Answers are sought on the way the last decade crises have affected the young people’s labour market, on the plausible explanations for diverging patterns within the EU and other European countries and in what terms it appears imbalanced across Europe.
